Senior Category Manager for Travel Sourcing
Can you take our travel procurement category to the next level?
In this role, you get to take trends and out-of-the-box thinking from the travel industry and apply these to a company setting, allowing us to balance great employee experiences with a procurement productivity mindset.
Develop global strategies and manage our travel sourcing
Reporting directly to our VP of Indirect Materials & Services (IM&S) Procurement, you will set the direction for our travel category which includes (but is not limited to): airlines, hotels, ground transportation, agency and internal meeting venues. In this role, you will drive global travel sourcing with an annual spending between 60 and 70 m Euros.
As part of the IM&S leadership team, you will deliver strong employee experiences and value to our stakeholders while ensuring that we have procedures in place that allow flexibility while keeping costs down. Thus, you will influence future travel spend decisions and introduce new travel solutions as you:
Provide active leadership and influencing among internal stakeholders, finance and suppliers to drive company-wide cost initiatives for travel-related spends
Work with internal stakeholders to understand spending trends and gain market insight – and translate these into category strategies and action which leads to productivity improvements
Collaborate with regional and site Procurement teams and business partners to develop and execute global category strategies
Build and maintain our global supplier base and negotiate contracts as well as manage risks and strategic and supplier performance
Develop and drive a strong supplier relationship management programme with clear objectives and outcomes
Creating value for employees and customers
You will be part of our IM&S Sourcing department where we focus on driving excellence in sourcing. We are a strong business partner for internal stakeholders and drive supplier relationship management. Here, you will collaborate with 40 Procurement colleagues who are primarily centred around our hubs in Billund, London and Singapore.
Moreover, we are part of a purpose-driven company, and our main goal is to inspire children to learn through play and to continuously build creative play experiences. To achieve this goal, we need to apply innovative thinking to everything we do - including our internal processes which you will help shape and optimise.
Extensive experience with productivity, procurement and partnering
To succeed in this role, you need the ability to lead through others, allowing you to influence regional category and site procurement teams without having direct reporting relationships. Moreover, you can translate overall business objectives into strategies that match evolving travel needs as the LEGO Group continues to globalise and enter new markets. In addition:
You hold a master’s degree or equivalent in Business Management with a focus on supply chain, law or finance
You have 5+ years of global travel sourcing experience including strategy development
You have an in-dept understanding of global procurement processes and the travel supply base landscape
You bring significant experience negotiating global enterprise agreements and driving innovative negotiations strategies for cost savings and value adds
You speak and write English fluently
Bringing it to life
“Given that there is no one clear stakeholder - and that every traveller feels the need to have a say - you will need a high level of collaboration, influence and trade-off skills. In return, you will gain a great understanding of the changing needs of our employees when they travel and incorporate these into sourcing strategies and solutions – which may involve everything from mobile apps to TMC technologies,” says VP of Indirect Materials & Services Procurement Kinnar Ghiya.
